The story

Rose captures the fragrance of a garden late in the day, when the warmth has softened and the scent of the flowers seems to linger in the air.

It opens brightly, with bergamot and blood orange giving the fragrance a clean citrus lift before the florals begin to emerge. Rosewood sits underneath, warm and slightly woody, while jasmine brings softness through the middle.

Then the rose arrives properly — petals rather than perfume — with gardenia beside it, creamy and full without becoming overly sweet. The citrus keeps everything fresh; the rosewood gives the flowers depth.

What remains in the room is unmistakably floral, but balanced and surprisingly easy to live with — a contemporary interpretation of rose rather than a traditional floral fragrance.

Rose works particularly well where its floral notes have room to soften. On a bedside table, rose and gardenia become more intimate; in a living room, the citrus opening keeps the fragrance fresh while rosewood adds warmth underneath.

The vessel

Rose is presented in a rich red-pink glass vessel designed to remain part of the room even when the candle isn't burning.

Once lit, the flame brings warmth and depth to the coloured glass, creating a softer glow around the candle. Against a neutral palette, it becomes a small but deliberate decorative element rather than simply a container for fragrance.

When the candle is finished, wash out the remaining wax and keep the vessel. Its simple form makes it easy to reuse as a small vase, bathroom container, holder for brushes or decorative object.

Is Rose a sweet floral candle?
Rose is floral, but it isn't designed to be overly sweet. Bergamot and blood orange give the fragrance freshness, while rosewood adds warmth and depth beneath the rose, jasmine and gardenia.

Does it smell strongly of rose?

Yes. Once the remaining wax has been removed and the glass thoroughly cleaned, the vessel can be repurposed around the home.

Caring for your candle

The first burn matters most. Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the glass before you put it out — usually two to four hours. A candle remembers its first burn. Stop it early and it can begin to tunnel.

Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn. An untrimmed wick can smoke, flicker and mark the glass. A trimmed wick helps the candle burn cleanly and evenly.

Burn for no more than four hours at a time. Longer burns can overheat the wax and affect the fragrance.

Keep it out of a draught. Moving air makes the flame lean, which can cause uneven burning and soot on the glass.

Stop when approximately 10 mm of wax remains. Continuing beyond this point can cause the base of the vessel to become excessively hot.

Then keep the vessel. Once cool, remove the remaining wax and wash the glass with warm soapy water before giving it another purpose.
